Learning Objectives

After completion of this practical course, the students will be able to:

  1. Describe basic concepts of data and run common open source RS/GIS software
  2. Develop skills in analytical methods and software of satellite remote sensing and GIS as applied to environmental systems
  3. Process optical satellite images
  4. Apply RS/GIS data for environmental system analysis, including change detection, hazard and vulnerability assessment, biodiversity and habitat assessment, and environmental resource mapping

Unit 1: Image Processing (15 hrs)

Unit 2: GIS Data Capture, Management and Analysis (15 hrs)
