Course Title: Case Study Credit Hours: 1
Course No: ENV 556 Lecture Hours: 45
Nature of Course: Research (Compulsory) Full Marks: 25

Learning Objectives

This research assignment is envisaged to:

  1. Add a dimension of reality to classroom studies in real-world situations during which the students address problems, challenges or issues that need to be investigated and solved.
  2. Enable students to closely examine the data within a specific context.

Requirements

Each student is required to complete two case studies- one related to the specialized paper chosen and the other on any contemporary environmental issue (1 credit total with 12.5 marks for each case study). In most cases, students are required to select a small geographical area or a very limited number of individuals as the subjects of their case study. The student shall identify the case, prepare a concept note in the prescribed format, and get it approved. In writing the case study, the students shall demonstrate their understanding of concepts, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities under the guidance of supervisors. It is crucial that the students integrate relevant theory from the unit of study with evidence from the case.

One of the case studies will be evaluated through oral presentation, and the other through poster presentation, which shall bear 60% and 40% of the total weightage of the marks.
