The Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University organized a Wetlands Seminar on the occasion of World Wetlands Day 2024.

Overview of the Seminar
Each year on February 2nd, World Wetlands Day is observed to commemorate the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on the same date in 1971. The convention was established in the Iranian city of Ramsar, located on the shores of the Caspian Sea. This significant day serves the purpose of raising global awareness regarding the crucial role that wetlands play for both people and the planet. The day emphasizes the importance of preserving the unique environments for the well-being of current and future generations. It offers an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and biodiversity of wetlands, while also addressing the challenges these ecosystems encounter.
